Although vlogging has increased in popularity in recent years, there are still many people who do not know the world of vlogging, or what the word vlogging really means. The word vlog is used as the abbreviated version of video blog. A vlog is basically a video. We call vlogging (or castellano, in Spanish), to the process of recording a vlog.
As we can see in this graph, the popularity of vlogging in Spain has grown exponentially in recent years, and continues to grow at an exorbitant rate.
This increase in popularity may be due to the fact that the equipment necessary to produce vlogs has become cheaper, making it more accessible for many people. Anyone with access to a video camera and an internet connection can create a vlog and publish it. As a result, becoming a vlogger has become tremendously simple.
Unlike television, vloggers do not create content for the sole purpose of making money. Vlogging gives ordinary people the chance to share their opinions on any topic that interests them.
Currently, YouTube is the most important platform for sharing online videos. The popularity of vlogs in the Spanish-speaking community on YouTube has grown dramatically in recent years. Today, hundreds of vloggers belong to the YouTube Partner Program, which allows you to earn money making vlogs. Many Spanish vloggers have been able to convert their YouTube channels into profitable professions, and even the most popular vloggers in Spain have become millionaires.
Types of Vlogs
A vlog can be as simple as a video documenting a person’s life, but it can also be about a particular subject, such as a hobby. Vlogs can be both entertaining and educational. The main objective of a vlog is to communicate, on a personal level, to a very large audience.
Sometimes, the term vlog is used in conjunction with a word that expresses its frequency, such as daily (daily, in English) or weekly (weekly).
Some of the most recurrent topics in vlogs are tutorials, sports, technical reviews or makeup tips.
As of August 23, 2016, the world record of consecutive days vlogging has the American vlogger Chales Trippy, with 2670 daily vlogs in a row.
